CVWMA Submits Regional Recycling Rate at 57.4% to VA DEQ

Thanks to the efforts and commitment to recycling by central Virginia citizens and businesses the Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) has submitted its regional recycling rate report to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VA DEQ). An estimated 57.4% of the waste generated in our region for calendar year 2012 was recycled and kept out of area landfills.

Electronics Recycling for Chesterfield Residents, June 1

Chesterfield County is offering a special electronics recycling collection event on Saturday, June 1 from 9:30 am until 1 pm at their Southern Area Convenience Center, 6700 landfill Road. Please visit the county website for specific fee information.

Goochland to Host E-cycling and HHW Event, June 8

Goochland County is hosting a special collection event for its residents on Saturday, June 8 from 9 am – 1pm at the Old County Fairground Property. Residents are encouraged to bring their unwanted electronics and household hazardous waste (HHW) for proper disposal.  Please contact county staff directly at 804-556-5850 for any fee information.

Date Change for 14th Annual James River Regional Cleanup Day

The annual James River Regional Cleanup Day has been moved from second Saturday in June to Saturday, September 14 from 9 am -1 pm. Join this fantastic effort to do something great for the river and community you love. Walkers, boaters, both paddlers and power boater needed to cleanup the river and shorelines. Carolyn BagbyCVWMA has three staff retirements to announce.
  • Nan Downey, Director of Finance and Administration retired May 1;
  • Carolyn Bagby, Call Center Representative will retire June 28; and
  • Bernie Harris, Director of Operations will be retiring in October.
